Armenia’s former healthcare minister, former parliament speaker, Scientific Head of Arabkir Medical Complex professor Ara Babloyan believes that number of urgent measures are needed to ensure the continuous operation of the country’s healthcare system.
“The National Assembly should double the healthcare budget in the first instance. Fees for ambulance service should be reviewed to expand the capacity and serve the whole population,” Babloyan told 168 Zham newspaper.
Asked whether children’s hospitals have the capacity to cope with the situation amid the growing number of children infected with Covid-19 and the recent related case of Kawasaki disease, Babloyan said: “Arabkir Medical Center has developed a program along with the ministry, including for children suffering from Kawasaki disease. Both the medical center and the ministry were ready for this.”
