Health minister: Some 15-20% of confirmed coronavirus cases require hospitalization
Armenia reported a record single-day spike in coronavirus infections, with 697 new cases confirmed on Wednesday, Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan told a cabinet meeting on Thursday, adding the national tally has surged past 11,000.
He said, unfortunately, 6 coronavirus deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 176.
Torosyan noted that the number of patients in serious and critical conditions remains unchanged. 391 patients are in serious condition, while 59 others are in critical condition, with 15 people put on ventilators at the moment.
He pointed to a ‘dangerous’ increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in various manufacturing companies, which may lead to big outbreaks. He once again urged employees of all factories to abide by all safety rules.
“The situation of the daily hospitalization remains tense," Torosyan said, adding that some 15-20% of the confirmed cases require hospitalization, with the rest of the patients receiving home treatment.
He stressed the need for a decrease in the number of coronavirus cases for the health system to be able to provide beds to all coronavirus patients requiring hospitalization in the future as well.
