Armenia's former security chief urges unity around single agenda
All Armenians should unite around a single agenda and form a government of national accord, former Director of the National Security Service (NSS), Chairman of the Homeland Party Artur Vanetsyan reiterated at a meeting with his party members in the city of Vanadzor on Thursday.
He stressed that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan should resign, citing the “disastrous” coronavirus-related situation in the country, which, Vanetsyan said, will further deteriorate.
“Our homeland is in an extremely difficult situation. The coronavirus situation came to show that the authorities are not ready to carry out effective management. The Armenian government has completely failed the epidemiological measures,” he said.
According to Vanetsyan, the Armenian prime minister and health minister created a non-serious approach to the infection at the beginning of the disease outbreak, instead of fighting it.
"You all remember the well-known statements. Today, what is happening in Armenia is a disaster. The incumbent authorities, led by Nikol Pashinyan, are simply unable to take measures which would take us out of this situation,” said the former security chief, recalling his resignation statement that the authorities cannot distinguish between primary and secondary issues.
He repeated his dream that a person should live well in Armenia.
"We can do it and we shall do it ourselves," he said.
