Armenia spent 513 million drams on human rights protection in 2019
A joint sitting of the Armenian National Assembly Standing Committees on Human Rights Protection and Public Affairs and Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs has kicked off.
At the beginning of the sitting, Minister of Finance Atom Janjughazyan said that a total of 513 million drams were allocated from the state budget for the protection of human rights in 2019, with the sum used for implementing all the events and budgetary programs, which were to be financed by the Human Rights Defender's Office.
The minister also reminded that in 2018, 412 million drams were allocated to the sphere of human rights protection.
"The state budget for 2019 was drawn up in the program format, which, in fact, assumes that the center of gravity of the discussions is not the use of financial resources, but the results registered due to the use of those funds,” Janjughazyan said.
According to him, 14 events were planned within the frames of the two budgetary programs during the reporting year, which were fully implemented by the Human Rights Defender's Office.
