State Revenue Committee to create an electronic platform for multinational e-commerce companies
Armenia’s State Revenue Committee (SRC) has gathered the leading technological companies around negotiating table to find taxation solutions for e-commerce of services, the press service at the Committee reported. After long negotiations, a video conference took place at SRC with the representatives of the largest role players in the field, such as Microsoft, Google, Facebook, Booking.com, Netflix, Amazon, Spotify, KPMG, and others.
Today, Armenia has a unique opportunity to offer worldwide leaders in e-services a favorable environment for self-declaration and for paying value added tax to our country’s budget against services provided to Armenian consumers. Moreover, the price for e-services provided to Armenia’s citizens already includes the value added tax. Introducing this self-declaration system will ensure additional revenues to the state budget without leading to changes in the prices of services.
“Taxation of e-commerce is a great challenge worldwide. Our country, as represented by the SRC, is on the path of finding the best solution. The committee’s experience in digitalization will allow creating a convenient platform for filing returns and paying taxes,” pointed out Deputy Chairman of SRC Mikayel Pashayan. The firms providing electronic services will be able to register with the system in a matter of minutes and to file their returns.
The SRC will shortly appear with a legislative initiative to introduce regulations for VAT taxation of e-commerce of services in Armenia in line with best international practice, the source said.
