Armenian lawmakers voting to strip opposition leader of immunity
A secret voting for stripping opposition Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) leader, MP Gagik Tsarukyan of his immunity has kicked off at the Armenian National Assembly.
The voting, which began at 3pm, is expected to last until 4pm.
At the parliament session on Tuesday, Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan presented the motion to lift Tsarukyan’s parliamentary immunity and launch criminal proceedings against the MP, describing the process as “purely legal”.
Prosperous Armenia and Bright Armenia parliamentary factions unveiled their decisions not to take part in the voting.
