People required to carry ID when outside, Pashinyan announces new coronavirus rules
The epidemic situation in Armenia remains strained with 425 new cases of Covid-19 and 9 deaths recorded over the past day, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated on Tuesday after the regular session at the Commandant’s Office in charge of the State of Emergency.
As the PM informed, Armenian citizens will be required to carry a document with them confirming their identity which could be passport, ID or a driver driver's license.
“There is an issue with filing administrative proceedings for violation of safety rules as citizens often carry no ID with them and the process gets complicated,” Pashinyan explained the new requirement.
To note, according to the new rule, people may face separate penalties for failing to meet the requirements and could be fined to 10,000 AMD for not wearing masks, another 10,000 AMD for carrying no ID with them.
Pashinyan then informed that the administrative control over the safety rules, specifically wearing masks in public places, will be enhanced, and more state bodies will be involved to monitor the situation.
