Pashinyan changes plans to attend Victory Parade in Moscow
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will not be present at the Victory Parade in Moscow on June 24, according to the letter addressed to Russian President Vladimir Putin published by the government press service.
“It is with regret to inform that I will not be able to attend the events marking the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. As you know, I was pleased to accept your invitation to participate in the solemn ceremonies. However, as it turned out later, the existing epidemic situation will not allow me to take the trip. Based on that, I decided to refrain from the scheduled trip to Moscow which had been discussed in detail and agreed between our Staffs,” the PM wrote.
Pashinyan next noted that he would be honored to attend the jubilee parade as 'the Victory in the Great Patriotic War remains a common heritage’ and ‘the memory of it unites our peoples and establishes a solid base for the friendship of future generations.’
“I look forward to our next meeting to discuss agenda issues of allied relations between our countries,” Pashinyan added.
To remind, Russia postponed its military parade traditionally held on Moscow’s Red Square on May 9 to June 24 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
