Bright Armenia party applies to CEC requesting MP Arman Babajanyan’s mandate
Bright Armenia Party has applied to the Central Electoral Commission to fulfill the missing mandate of the parliamentary fraction.
“We have provided legal justifications that the Electoral Code of the Republic of Armenia requires the opposition mandates to be not less than 1/3 of the total number of mandates of the National Assembly, while the analysis of the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly proves that opposition can be regarded exclusively as one subject - fraction,” one of the the fraction members Ani Samsonian wrote on Facebook page.
According to the application, the matter arose when MP Arman Babajanyan who has elected in the parliament in the list of the Bright Armenia Party, later left the fraction. The lawmaker later refused to withdraw his mandate and continue to be an independent lawmaker despite Bright Armenia fraction call.
