Three Armenian opposition parties report crime to Prosecutor General’s Office
The working group set up by the opposition Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), Homeland Party and Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF, Dashnaktsutyun) party filed a crime report to the Prosecutor General’s Office on Tuesday morning.
Speaking to reporters, a working group member from Homeland Party, Arsen Babayan said the report concerns cases of “usurpation of power and overthrow of the constitutional order.”
“It refers to the usurpation of the Constitutional Court powers which began two years ago and the whole process," he said.
PAP lawmakers Naira Zohrabyan and Mikayel Melkumyan, as well as ARF member Lilit Galstyan had also arrived at the Prosecutor General’s Office.
In a statement on Monday, the working group unveiled plans to report a crime to the Prosecutor General’s Office requesting the law enforcement agency to launch a criminal case into “particularly grave offenses” committed by legislators and other top officials.
“On June 30, at 10am, the authorized representatives of the political parties will hand over the joint report of the three political parties on a crime to the Prosecutor General’s Office,” the statement said, inviting media representatives to gather outside the building of Prosecutor General’s Office to be provided with the details of the facts and legal grounds of the crime report.
