Opposition demands parliamentary probe into the government response to the pandemic
Two opposition fractions at the National Assembly - Bright Armenia and Prosperous Armenia - have applied to the Speaker of Parliament Ararat Mirzoyan to set a parliamentary ad hoc commission for examining the government response to the pandemic and the efficiency of the measures taken by the government and the Commandant’s Office aimed at preventing the disease and mitigating its consequences.
As lawmaker Ani Samsonyan from Bright Armenia fraction informed, the commission will be also tasked with examining the efficiency and legality of restrictions put on human rights and fundamental freedoms during the regime of the state of emergency.
