Around 1,000 Covid-19 cases recorded this weekend - Pashinyan
The situation with the novel coronavirus remains tense in Armenia, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated on Monday after the regular meeting at the Commandant’s Office. Pashinyan reminded that the healthcare system is under pressure due to the occurred epidemic situation.
“We receive discouraging news not only from Armenia but throughout the world. Numerous countries that earlier announced about the control over the pandemic are now struggling with a new wave of coronavirus infections,” said Pashinyan.
The PM reiterated his government strategy to curb Covid-19 through cooperation and change of individual behavior of the citizens, adding administrative measures merely can bring no result unless mass changes in behavior take place.
“The reality is that 491 people have died from coronavirus in the country. We should encourage citizens to wear masks, sanitize hands and practice social distancing,” said Pashinyan. He also informed that in cooperation with the Armenian Red Cross Society, face masks along with awareness materials will be distributed free of charge to citizens in number of spots in Yerevan.
