Azerbaijan resumes shelling of Armenian positions
Azerbaijani military resumed the shelling of the Armenian military positions in northern Tavush Province on Monday morning after a two to three-hour break, Defense Ministry spokeswoman Shushan Stepanyan wrote on Facebook.
The Armenian Armed Forces retaliated adequately, she said, adding an increase in the adversary’s losses is not ruled out.
Earlier on 12 July, at around 12:30pm local time, for unknown reasons, the Azerbaijani troops moving in an UAZ vehicle tried to cross into Tavush. After warning shots from the Armenian side, the Azerbaijani soldiers left their vehicle behind and returned to their positions.
Later on Sunday Azerbaijani troops once again tried to capture the Armenian border positions, opening artillery fire at them, but were forced to retreat, suffering losses, the Armenian Defense Ministry said, adding there were no losses among Armenian servicemen.
According to Azerbaijani media reports, three Azerbaijani servicemen died, while four others were wounded as a result.
