Azerbaijan attempts subversive attack, shells Armenian border villages
At around 3:40am at night, the Armenian troops spotted movement of the Azerbaijani forces. Switching to all-around defense, Armenian forces foiled the adversary’s attempted incursion, Ministry of Defense spokeswoman Shushan Stepanyan said on Facebook.
“After a hot battle, the adversary was thwarted back suffering losses,” she said.
Afterwards, at 5:20am, the Azerbaijani units started shelling the Armenian border villages of Aygepar and Movses, using mortars and a D-30 howitzer. The fire still continues, she said.
“Armenian Armed Forces units are neutralizing provocations of the Azerbaijani military.
“This is the first serious violation of the fragile ceasefire established yesterday at 12:15am,” Stepanyan said.
