The villages of Movses, Aygepar, Chinari and Nerkin Karmiraghbyur, as well as the town of Berd in Tavush came under Azerbaijani artillery fire at night, he reminded, adding the Azerbaijani military resumed shelling of the settlements on Thursday morning.
None of the residents was hurt as a result, the governor said, adding that more than 10 homes, some civilian infrastructure and the kindergarten of Aygepar were damaged in the shelling at night. The Azerbaijani fire had damaged some 20 house in the previous days, he said.
“The situation is relatively calm at the moment, there is no panic, we have asked our population to remain in shelters as much as possible during the day,” the governor said.
Chobanyan said the restoration work of the damaged buildings and houses is expected to start tomorrow, adding the houses badly damaged in the shelling will need to be built from scratch.
