Austria completes internal procedures for ratification of EU-Armenia agreement
Austria notified on Wednesday the General Secretariat of the European Council and the Council of the EU about the completion of its internal procedures necessary for the ratification of the the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA), the Armenian Embassy in Austria said.
Earlier on 16 July, the Congress of Deputies of Spain, the lower house of the country’s legislative branch, ratified the EU-Armenia deal. The document will be debated for ratification at the Senate in the near future.
Italy is another country which needs to complete the domestic procedures for the ratification as the document was ratified by the Senate last year. CEPA is yet to be ratified by Portugal and is subject for consideration at the plenary sitting of the country’s parliament soon.
After the completion of the ratification process in these three countries, the agreement will come into force.
Armenia and the EU signed the deal in the margins of the Eastern Partnership Summit in Brussels on 24 November 2017.
