Fallen soldier Artur Muradyan buried in Yerevan with full military honors
Artur Muradyan, a 19-year-old Armenian soldier who was severely wounded in Azerbaijani attack at a northeastern military position on 14 July and died 8 days later at a military hospital, was buried on Saturday at the Yerablur Military Pantheon in Yerevan with full military honors, under the volley salute and the national anthem of Armenia.
Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan took part in the funeral ceremony.
Artur Muradyan was posthumously awarded the Medal for Combat Service for the services rendered to the homeland at the proposal of the prime minister and by the decree of the president.
One of Artur's relatives, Vahram Poghosyan, said that after graduating from school, Arthur was admitted to the Yerevan State University to become an expert on Turkish studies. "Asked why he wanted to become a turkologist, he said, ‘I must study and understand why that nation has been hostile to our people for hundreds of years.' These were not casual words, but rather the call of the blood, because 105 years ago Arhur's ancestors lost their family of about 50 people, there were only two survivors, who fought for their nation for five years,” he said.
“Dear Artur, you chose your path. Having just set foot on the threshold of youth, you chose the path of eternity, sacrificing your life for your country and people. Glory to you, Artur!”
