Serzh Sargsyan starts answering questions of public interest
Armenia’s third President Serzh Sargsyan is starting to answer questions of public interest as promised before, his office said in a statement.
The video being released and five short videos to follow, which are entitled "Let's speak openly: Serzh Sargsyan on the April War," will be the ex-president's first and direct communication with the public since 2018.
Sargsyan has repeatedly stated that when the time comes he will answer all questions addressed to him that are of any concern to the public, with the topic of the 2016 war being first in line.
Earlier on April 16, the former president had promised to hold a news conference immediately after the end of the coronavirus state of emergency in Armenia to answer all questions related to the April 2016 events.
However, the constantly extended state of emergency in the country made it impossible to hold such a news conference, due to which the format of short videos was chosen, the office said.
“This format will not replace the planned traditional news conferences, but will only precede them in the current situation.
Serzh Sargsyan wants every citizen to have the opportunity to hear from him personally on issues of public interest, on what actually happened, presenting the facts, as well as his vision on the future of Armenia,” the statement added.
