Fallen soldier Sasha Galstyan would have turned 24 today
Today, August 12, marks the birthday anniversary of Sasha Galstyan, who heroically fell while defending the Artsakh borders during the 2016 April War unleashed by Azerbaijan. The fallen soldier would have turned 24 today.
Sasha was a student at a medical college and was studying to be a doctor. He was drafted into the army in 2015, receiving the military ranks of a junior sergeant and then sergeant during his 14 months of service.
Sasha and his three fellow soldiers fell heroically while repelling the Azerbaijani attacks on Jebrail (Jrakan) on April 2. The hero inflicted significant losses to the adversary in a fierce battle lasting for 4-5 hours before being killed by sniper fire.
In 2016, Sasha Galstyan was posthumously honored with the Medals of Combat Service, Courage and Homeland Protection.
