Regional hospitals close coronavirus departments amid decrease in numbers of Covid-19 cases
Gyumri Infectious Hospital as well as Spitak and Martuni Medical Centers return to their regular operation as the coronavirus departments have been shut down amid the lowering number of infections across the country. As the Spokeswoman at the Ministry of Health Alina Nikoghosyan informed, a relatively stable situation with coronavirus epidemic is observed in the country and there is no need to allocate special departments within regional medical centers for treatment of Covid-19 patients.
As Nikoghosyan informed, overall 67 Covid-19 patients will be transferred to Yerevan from regional hospitals to continue their treatment in the capital. Once the patients discharge from hospitals, the Ministry of Health will organize their return to home.
In Nikoghosyan's words, Martuni Medical Center and Gyumri Infectious Hospital however will continue to serve as triage center to detect Covid-19 patients and organize their transfer to Yerevan for future treatment.
As of Monday August 31, only Kapan Medical Center has a designated department for coronavirus patients, Nikoghosyan said.
