150 vehicles to be obtained for the new Patrol Service
The newly formed Patrol Service will need some 150 vehicles for which the Police of Armenia have turned to the Cabinet for additional funding. During the Cabinet session on Thursday, Police Chief Vahe Ghazaryan suggested to rearrange the 2020 budget for the procurement. He added that 10 vehicles will be imported on November 1, another 140 - on December 20 of the ongoing year.
In Ghazaryan's words, the cars will be equipped with 'latest technological solutions' designed for the patrol service.
The Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan, in turn, elaborated on the recruitment procedure of the service officers and the selection of qualified trainers. He informed that the trainers have already been selected through a competition. The five-month-long trainings will start in October. Overall, some 770 police officers will be trained to serve as patrol police officer.
To remind, the patrol service will start operating in Yerevan as early as in the first quarter of 2021. It will be fully operational across the country from the first quarter of 2022.
