Armenian health ministry provides updates on alcohol poisoning cases
A total of 38 cases of alcohol poisoning were recorded in Armenia as of 12pm Thursday, September 3, the health authorities said, adding 25 of the victims are residents of Armavir Province, 12 are from Yerevan and one is from Kotayk Province.
14 people have died from alcohol poisoning in the country, the Ministry of Health said in a statement.
The people hospitalized with symptoms of alcohol poisoning are receiving treatment at various medical centers across the country.
An epidemiological examination has revealed that the use of homemade vodka purchased from one seller was the possible source of poisoning in Armavir Province.
Most of the victims in Yerevan used rubbing alcohol as an alternative to vodka, while an examination is underway to find out the type of alcohol used by the rest of the victims.
