Armenian parliament passes quarantine bill in first reading
The Armenian National Assembly passed on Friday in the first reading a bill that would allow the authorities to enforce quarantine in the country without again extending the coronavirus state of emergency.
The draft law received 80 votes for and 28 against.
Before the vote the opposition Bright Armenia and Prosperous Armenia factions announced their decisions to vote against the package of draft amendments.
According to the bill, in case of the spread of infectious diseases, outbreaks and emergencies in Armenia, provincial governors, the Yerevan mayor and the prime minister may declare quarantine at the suggestion of the authorized state body in health care.
