Tigran Avinyan to be freed of his duties as Commander in charge of the emergency regime
Once the draft legislation of quarantine enter into force, operation the of the Commandant's Office in charge of the regime of the state of emergency in Armenia will be ceased, Deputy Minister of Justice Rafik Grigoryan stated on Friday at parliament.
The statement came at a debate of Armenian lawmakers discussing the draft bill on quarantine that would allow the authorities to enforce quarantine in the country without again extending the coronavirus state of emergency. Earlier, in the morning, the bill received 80 votes for and 28 against in the first reading.
As Grigoryan informed once the legislations enters into force, the institute of the Commandant's Office will be dissolved. According to the bill, in case of the spread of infectious diseases, outbreaks and emergencies in Armenia, provincial governors, the Yerevan mayor and the prime minister may declare quarantine at the suggestion of the authorized state body in health care.
"The legislation envisages number of measures and activities. In case of quarantine, a special regime for entry and exit from the quarantine zone can be established. The Law on the State Border may envisage temporary restriction or suspension of the state communication, restriction of the free movement of people and transportation, set measures of monitoring, self-isolation or isolation," the deputy minister said.
