Tsarukyan to authorities: What else have you done apart from fining people and increasing taxes?
"The state starts from the border. People living under constant fire should be different from those living in the center of Yerevan and receive special attention," leader of the opposition Prosperous Armenia Party, MP Gagik Tsarukyan said on Friday, addressing his supporters and party members in the border village of Voskan in Tavush Province.
Tsarukyan emphasized that all people living in the border villages of Armenia are also soldiers.
A video shared on Tsarukyan's Facebook page showed a large number of police officers following the meeting.
"Today they have created an atmosphere of fear, closing all the roads and checking people’s passports. I have come here to talk to my people and meet with my party members to figure out how I can help,” he said.
“Apart from fining the people and raising taxes, can you tell me what else have you done? I'm just ashamed of you. There is a plan to fine 300 people a day. Go ahead and fine them, but today the poor people receive 30,000 drams of pensions, and in these conditions tuition fees and property taxes are being increased," Tsarukyan added.
