First-grade pupils go to school under Covid-19 restrictions
Armenian students go to school on Monday as schools across the country open their doors to greet only first-graders. Classes will resume in all public and private schools as well as universities starting from September 15, nearly six months after the coronavirus outbreak that forced them to close.
The education process will be organised in line with the government guidance and safety measures. All teachers and pupils will be required to wear masks both indoors and outdoors. There will be a maximum of 20 students in classrooms and classes will be held in two shifts. Schoolchildren will not be allowed to get out of the classrooms during the breaks. Schoolchildren will attend school six days a week instead of five days.
Armenia has recorded more than 45,000 coronavirus cases and 840 deaths since the start of the epidemic. In recent weeks, however, the country’s heath authorities have been reporting a decreasing number of new COVID-19 cases and fatalities.
