SRC Chairman, Iranian Ambassador discussed modernization and expansion of Meghri’s border checkpoint
Chairman of Armenia's State Revenue Committee (SRC) Edvard Hovhannisyan received on Wednesday Ambassador of Iran to Armenia Abbas Zohouri.
As the press service at the Committee reported, during the meeting, the interlocutors discussed a range of issues regarding bilateral relations, particularly the implementation of the program of modernization and expansion of Meghri’s border checkpoint, loan and grant agreements signed in the context of the program, as well as regarding the need to launch Meghri’s free economic zone.
The importance of the steps towards implementing the provisions of the protocol signed for the purpose of exchange of preliminary electronic data between the customs authorities of the two countries on international movement of goods and vehicles, and towards increasing bilateral goods turnover was highlighted. The participants of the meeting also stressed the importance of Armenia’s role for Iran as a transit path ensuring entry to EAEU market.
The sides spoke in praise of the achievements resulting from the cooperation of recent years between the two countries and reached an agreement to pursue establishing future cooperation,
SRC’s leadership assured that all issues aimed at boosting trade relations and turnover between Armenia and Iran are among priorities not only for the committee but also the Government of Armenia, and Armenia will take every effort to develop those even further.
