President: Artsakh parliament to be moved from Stepanakert to Shushi in 2022
The Artsakh National Assembly will be moved from capital city Stepanakert to the fortress town of Shushi in 2022, Artsakh Republic President Arayik Harutyunyan said in a Facebook post on Saturday.
The parliament will be moved to Shushi on May 9 marking the 30th anniversary of the liberation of the town, the Artsakh leader said, adding the initiative has already been approved by the Free Homeland-Civil United Party and Justice factions of the parliament.
"During my working visit to Shushi, we discussed on the ground the possibility of allocating to the parliament the half-constructed building envisaged to be a court, the construction of which will resume shortly upon my instruction,” he wrote.
“I believe the decision has both political and practical as well as symbolic significance to revalue our historical and victorious town in a unique way." the president added.
