Armenian minister, IAEA deputy head discuss extension of NPP’s operating lifetime
Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Suren Papikyan on Tuesday met with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Deputy Director General Dazhu Yang in Vienna on the sidelines of the 64th IAEA General Conference.
The officials discussed a wide range of issues related to the development of nuclear energy sector in Armenia, in particular referring to the program of extending the operating lifetime of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) and increasing its security, the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure reported.
The parties expressed satisfaction with the progress of the programs implemented within the framework of technical support provided by the IAEA to Armenia.
Issues related to the development of professional potential in the field of nuclear energy in Armenia and training of personnel through joint programs were also discussed at the meeting.
