Robert Kocharyan thanks supporters rallying outside Yerevan court
A group of supporters of second Armenian President Robert Kocharyan on Tuesday held a rally in front of the Shengavit residence of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction before the resumption of the court hearings in the case against him and three other former senior officials.
Accompanied by his son, Levon Kocharyan, the former president approached protesters chanting "Kocharyan, hero!" and other slogans.
Supporters greeted them with applause and exclamations.
"I have a few free minutes before the court hearing starts. I have come here to thank you for your active support. It gives me both strength and endurance,” he said.
“But I must say that this senseless trial will take a long time. I have already said that Tuesday is deleted from my calendar as it is a meaningless day, but I do not want it to be the same in your calendar," Kocharyan told his supporters, to which they responded, "We are ready to stand up for you” and “Until the end."
The ex-president asked the rallying people not to stand in the Sun and go home.
"This meaningless trial has entered a routine; it will take a long time. Just please do not delete Tuesday from your calendar, deal with your daily activities! Thank you, stay healthy!" he added.
After Kocharyan entered the court building, protesters continued to chant, "Victory!", "Kocharyan, hero!", etc.
