Iran, Russia enjoying close coordination on regional issues: Iranian FM
Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said there is close coordination between Tehran and Moscow for settlement of regional issues. Zarif who arrived in Moscow for an official visit late on Wednesday made the remarks while speaking upon his arrival, IRNA reported.
He added, Tehran-Moscow coordination makes it necessary that officials of the two countries have regular contacts.
As for the agenda of his visit to Moscow, the foreign minister said discussing the 2015 nuclear deal from which US withdrew unilaterally in 2018, is one of the major priorities of his talks with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.
On the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Russian government along with China has picked the best stance at the UN Security Council over the past several months, Zarif noted.
Speaking about the regional developments, Zarif said the region is suffering from serious problems. Then, he referred to the issue of Syria which needs special coordination.
He said that Iran will coordinate with Russia and Turkey on the Syrian peace during the Astana talks. Troika of Tehran, Moscow and Ankara are three guarantors of peace in Syria.
