Armenian PM declares martial law, mobilization amid fresh Azerbaijani attack on Artsakh
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has declared martial law and military mobilization across the country as the fights continue along the entire Artsakh contact line.
“At the decision of the government, martial law and general mobilization is declared in the Republic of Armenia. The decision comes into effect after its publication,” the premier said in a Facebook post, urging the personnel attached to the troops to visit their district commissariats.
“For the homeland, for victory!” Pashinyan wrote.
Azerbaijan launched massive cross-border artillery attack on Artsakh early on Sunday, also shelling civilian areas, including capital city Stepanakert, as a result of which a woman and a child have been killed in Artsakh.
Earlier, Artsakh Republic President Arayik Harutyunyan imposed martial law. "We started mobilizing all citizens above the age of 18. Martial law is declared in the country," he said.
