Spokeswoman: Armenia has irrefutable evidence on which side started hostilities in Karabakh
The whole diplomatic service of Armenia is working in an emergency mode to counteract Azerbaijan's aggression against Artsakh, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Anna Naghdalyan told reporters on Monday.
She said that Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan held telephone conversations with his colleagues from around 20 countries on Sunday after Azerbaijan launched a massive air and artillery attack on the Artsakh military positions and numerous civilian settlements.
Prime Minister Pashinyan, too, held phone calls with the leaders of different countries, Naghdalyan said.
"These telephone conversations should not be perceived as one-time actions, as they entail a continuous contact with the international community to present the situation, the steps taken following the destabilization of the region due to the Azerbaijani aggression and the possible threats," she said.
Naghdalyan stressed that at the moment Armenia has the unconditional support of the international community, which condemns the use of force and the efforts aimed at disrupting peace and security in the region.
"Facing the unanimous stance of the international community, the official Baku began to resort to its practice of spreading disinformation that the Armenian side was the first to attack. I would like to mention that this is not the first time that we have witnessed such a practice,” Naghdalyan said, stressing that Armenia has undeniable evidence on which side started the hostilities in Karabakh.
The spokesperson states that Azerbaijan’s latest aggression against Artsakh has two peculiarities: first, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has publicly renounced the peace process and called for a military settlement of the conflict, second, there has been a change in the scope of Tukey’s military presence in the conflict, with Turkish military experts now fighting side by side with Azerbaijanis and using Turkish military equipment, including warplanes and UAVs.
"We also have reports on the recruitment of foreign armed terrorist fighters by Turkey from some parts of the Middle East and their transfer to Azerbaijan. Moreover, Turkey provides full political and propaganda support to Azerbaijan. This allows us to assert that the Armenian people are fighting against the Turkish-Azerbaijani alliance," Naghdalyan stated.
