Armenia has no intention to apply to the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) with regard to the situation occurred in Nagorno Karabakh, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated on Wednesday during the interview to Russian media.

"Applying to CSTO remains a political issue. We are closely working with CSTO. The Armed Forces of Armenia are capable to protect the security of the country," noted Pashinyan, adding Armenia will use every mean to ensure its security.

"With CSTO or without it is a different question. We discuss all possibilities of ensuring our security based on the situation and the overall political context," said Pashinyan.

He also noted he had not discussed with Russian President Vladimir Putin the issue of Russia's military involvement in the Karabakh conflict zone. "There was no such an issue on the agenda of the talks," Pashinyan said.

To remind, Russian president’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday that the situation along the contact line in Nagorno-Karabakh is a subject for serious analysis within the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

To remind, Article 4 of Treaty states that in case of aggression against any of the member states, all the other member state at the request of this member state shall provide the latter with the necessary help, including military, as well as support by the means at their disposal in accordance with the right to collective defense pursuant to article 51 of the UN Charter.
