Fierce battles underway in northern and southern directions of Artsakh border – Defense Ministry
Tough and fierce battles are taking place in the northern and southern directions of the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) border, the Armenian Defense Ministry spokeswoman Shushan Stepanyan said in a Facebook post on Saturday.
"The adversary [Azerbaijan], concentrating large forces in these sections, has launched an attack. The Armenian military units are stopping the adversary's advance, causing it huge losses,” she wrote.
Earlier the Defense Ministry representative Artsrun Hovhannisyan said that heavy battles took place in the Artsakh-Azerbaijan conflict zone overnight.
Citing the intelligence data, he also said Azerbaijan’s army casualties had already exceeded 3,000.
“Most of the dead bodies are in the no-man’s land, with practically no steps being taken to retrieve from," he added.
