Defense minister refutes Azerbaijani claims about missile strikes from Armenia's territory
"I believe that Azerbaijan’s defense minister, with his 'deep military knowledge', must have mixed the zone of expansion of combat actions, which includes Armenia. In particular, the civilian settlements of Armenia’s Vardenis region have already been struck by heavy artillery and UAVs," Armenian Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan told Zinuzh Media on Sunday, referring to the statement of the Azerbaijani defense minister that “due to Armenia's actions the zone of hostilities will expand.”
According to Tonoyan, if the Azerbaijani attack on Vardenis does not yet constitute an extension of the combat zone for the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry, exerts should already make conclusions on it.
The defense chief dismissed the Azerbaijani leadership’s allegations of Armenia launching missile strikes against settlements in Azerbaijan as fake.
"No long-range shelling or missile strikes have been carried out from Armenia into Azerbaijan. If Stepanakert, Martuni, Hadrut and Martakert are permissible areas for the combat actions of the Azerbaijani armed forces, the experienced units of the Defense Army respond very sharply… and Azerbaijan will be suffering horrible consequences,” Tonoyan said.
