Artsakh army lures Azeri soldiers into trap, forces enemy to flee leaving behind hundreds dead
Today the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Defense Army employed a tactical trick in one of the most difficult directions of the military front, creating an impression of retreat among the Azerbaijani units, Armenian Defense Ministry spokeswoman Shushan Stepanyan said.
“The adversary, making an attempt to occupy the positions abandoned by the Armenian forces, was trapped. Afterwards, as a result of a strong artillery strike, most of the Azerbaijani unit was obliterated. Leaving more than 200 killed soldiers on the battlefield, the enemy fled in an irregular manner,” she wrote on Facebook.
Earlier on Monday, Artsakh president’s spokesman Vahram Poghosyan said that the Artsakh Defense Army had withdrawn its troops from some frontline sections for tactical considerations. The move was aimed at avoiding unnecessary casualties and inflicting greater losses on the Azerbaijani forces, he said.
