Fierce battles underway, advance of Azerbaijan’s troops being stopped – Defense Ministry
Fierce battles are taking place on the Artsakh-Azerbaijan line of contact, Armenian Defense Ministry representative Artsrun Hovhannisyan said on Monday.
“The advance of the adversary’s troops is being stopped,” he wrote on Facebook.
In a separate Facebook post, he stated that some tactical movement of the troops does not mean anything at this stage of the war.
Earlier on Monday Artsakh president’s spokesman Vahram Poghosyan said that the Artsakh Defense Army has withdrawn its troops from some frontline sections for tactical considerations. The move is aimed at avoiding unnecessary casualties and inflicting greater losses on the Azerbaijani forces, he said.
On September 27, Azerbaijan launched a massive offensive along the entire line of contact with Artsakh, with the hostilities continuing to date.
