Artsrun Hovhannisyan: Stepanakert rocked by at least several dozen explosions from weapons of different calibers
This morning hostilities in the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) conflict zone resumed with new intensity, with combat actions taking place both in the northern and southern sections of the frontline, the Armenian Defense Ministry representative Artsrun Hovhannisyan told a briefing on Friday, adding the hostilities in the northern section were more intense today compared to yesterday.
According to him, fierce battles took place largely in the southern direction of the front. The Armenian forces continue to repulse the Azerbaijani attacks and push them back to their initial positions, he said.
"Today the enemy has suffered significant losses, at the moment the battles are going on. Today, the Azerbaijani official circles declared that they had captured Jebrayil, Hadrut and the surrounding villages. It just raises our smile, because at the moment I was in Hadrut,” Hovhannisyan stated.
“Moreover, there were no active battles in that direction at all. At the same time, the bombardment of the capital city of Stepanakert continued during the daytime. At least several dozen explosions from weapons of different calibers rocked the city. Today I also saw the damage to the church in Shushi. Actually, two accurate strikes were delivered on one part of the church. It cannot be just a chance attack. The battles are going on. During the night, as a rule, there are also battles, but in the morning they become more intense,” he said.
