Artsakh parliament urges Armenia, Russia, Iran to create joint Counter-Terrorism Coalition
The Artsakh National Assembly issued a statement on Sunday, calling on the authorities of Armenia, Russia and Iran to create a joint Counter-Terrorism Coalition to neutralize the international terrorists who have infiltrated into the region. The full text of the statement is below.
“As it is well known that the authorities in Baku, with the explicit directive from Turkey, launched yet another large-scale aggression against the Artsakh Republic on September 27th, resuming active hostilities, during which international terrorists, representatives of various extremist groups from Syria, Iraq, Libya and other areas, entered our region with Turkish support. This already well-known fact is confirmed not only by influential international organizations and media outlets, but also by various officials of a number of countries, including Russia, France, Iran, and Syria.
It is obvious that international terrorist organizations, taking advantage of the short-sighted and short-term policy pursued by the authorities in Baku, and after a major defeat in Syria, are now trying to establish themselves in the region with the help of the Turkish authorities and turn it into a new epicenter of terrorism. This is a direct threat not only to Artsakh but also to its neighboring countries, to the security and territorial integrity of Armenia, Russia and Iran, thus creating new zones of instability in the region.
The Turkish and Azeri authorities, obsessed with destroying Artsakh at all costs, do not even realize that while bringing terrorists to this region, sponsoring them, assisting them in establishing appropriate bases, and creating appropriate conditions for their activities, creates short-term threat to Artsakh, in the long-term it creates a global threat for the countries in the region and for international security, including for Azerbaijan’s own civilian population.
The National Assembly of the Artsakh Republic, noting the significance of regional peace, security, beneficial cooperation between the countries in our region and the fight against international terrorism, calls on the authorities of Armenia, Russia and Iran to:
1. Condemn the use by Azerbaijan of international terrorist groups and their representatives in the military aggression against Artsakh.
2. Establish a joint Counter-Terrorism Coordination Center for locating the international terrorists who have infiltrated into the region, identifying their appropriate military bases, and developing joint neutralization programs.
3. Establish a joint Counter-Terrorism Coalition to physically and effectively neutralize the terrorists and their groups that have infiltrated into the region."
