Artsakh vows ‘disproportionately harsh’ response if Azerbaijan keeps breaching humanitarian ceasefire
From October 10-11, Azerbaijan continued delivering missile and artillery strikes on peaceful settlements in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), targeting civilian infrastructure and non-combatants, the Artsakh Defense Army said on Sunday.
“The Artsakh Defense Army remains committed to the agreement on humanitarian ceasefire. If Azerbaijan continues violating the humanitarian ceasefire and launches offensive operations, the Defense Army's response will be disproportionately harsh,” the military said.
After nearly 11 hours of talks in Moscow sponsored by the Russian foreign minister, the Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers agreed to a humanitarian ceasefire in Karabakh starting on Saturday, 12pm, to exchange prisoners and bodies of victims with the facilitation of the International Committee of the Red Cross and in line with its regulations.
In the early morning of September 27, Azerbaijan launched a massive air and artillery attack on the Artsakh military positions, numerous civilian settlements and infrastructure in the country, including the capital city of Stepanakert, the towns of Martuni, Martakert, Shushi and Hadrut.
Artsakh has reported 20 civilian casualties and hundreds of military casualties. Several foreign and local reporters have also been injured in Artsakh as a result of Azerbaijani attacks. Both Armenia and Artsakh have declared martial law and a general mobilization.
