Azerbaijan suffers heavy losses in manpower in two days of fighting – Defense Ministry rep
In the early morning, the Azerbaijani army resumed large-scale offensive operations against Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), especially in the northern direction and the southern direction as well, but not towards the Araks Valley, representative of the Armenian Defense Ministry Artsrun Hovhannisyan told a briefing on Wednesday, presenting the situation on the frontline.
In Hovhannisyan’s words, the Azerbaijani forces tried to develop stubborn offensives in both sections with intensive use of artillery fire and manpower in high density formations and minimal use of armored vehicles, however the Artsakh Defense Army managed to push the enemy back, inflicting heavy losses on them.
Azerbaijan suffered substantial losses in manpower during today’s and yesterday’s combat actions, he stressed.
“The adversary seems to have adopted a new tactic especially when attacking the heights. High density infantry is being used, which is indescribable, something that we have often seen in movies,” Hovhannisyan said.
“At this point the clashes continue, the intensity [of the hostilities] slightly declines in the evening,” he added.
