Holidays in Armenian schools to start on Thursday amid coronavirus surge
Autumn holidays in Armenian public schools will start sooner than planned due to a surge in coronavirus cases, according to a decision of Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Arayik Harutyunyan.
The two-week holidays, set to begin on November 2, will now start on Thursday, October 15, to last until October 29, the minister said.
A decision on the learning format will be made in two weeks in accordance with the situation.
In the meantime, all universities and other educational institutions in Armenia are switching to distance learning from October 15 for two weeks, pending a further decision.
Armenia on Wednesday confirmed a record one-day rise in the number of new coronavirus infections, with 1,058 cases reported over 24 hours.
