Artsakh defense minister awarded lieutenant-general military rank
Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan on Thursday bestowed the high military rank of lieutenant-general upon Minister of Defense Jalal Harutyunyan, the president said on Facebook.
“Dear compatriots,
Today, upon my decree, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Artsakh, Commander of the Defense Army, Major-General Jalal Harutyunyan was conferred the military rank of lieutenant-general.
Glory and honor to our army!” he wrote.
Earlier on Thursday, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan petitioned the Artsakh leader to award commander of the 2nd Army Corps, Colonel Arayik Harutyunyan and commander of the 4th Army Corps, Colonel Artak Budaghyan the major-general military rank, while Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, Lieutenant-General Onik Gasparyan – the colonel-general military rank.
Also, the premier asked the president to posthumously honor commander Vahagn Asatryan with the title of National Hero of Artsakh.
