Artsakh army repulses fresh Azerbaijani attacks in northern direction – Defense Ministry
After about an hour of intensive shelling early in the morning, the Azerbaijani troops launched a large-scale offensive in the northern direction of the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) frontline, the Armenian Defense Ministry representative Artsrun Hovhannisyan said on Friday.
“They tried to capture our positions with wave attacks several times, but were pushed back suffering heavy losses thanks to the Armenian soldiers’ courage and skills," he wrote on Facebook.
Earlier on Friday, the ministry’s spokeswoman, Shushan Stepanyan, reported a relatively stable tension in the Artsakh-Azerbaijan conflict zone overnight.
Artillery fights continued with various intensity in separate sections of the frontline, she said.
“In the morning, breaching the humanitarian ceasefire, the adversary resumed offensives in the northern direction,” Stepanyan said.
