Armenian PM rules out diplomatic solution of Karabakh conflict at this stage
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Wednesday ruled out a diplomatic solution of the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) conflict at this stage because Azerbaijan does not agree with anything other than the capitulation of Artsakh.
“We have to realize that the Karabakh conflict cannot have a diplomatic solution at least at this stage and for a very long time,” Pashinyan said in a Facebook live video.
“Experience has shown everything that is acceptable or will be acceptable to the Armenian side is no longer acceptable to Azerbaijan, which shows that it’s pointless to talk about any diplomatic solution, at least at this stage," he stressed, accusing Baku of not wanting to make compromises.
The premier urged Armenians to form volunteer groups to fight on the frontline and protect the rights of the Armenian people, stating the country is facing a difficult situation on the battlefield.
“Our observations show that the enemy is already throwing the last reserves into the battlefield. Yes, their resources are colossal, but our hero soldiers are inflicting heavy losses [on the Azerbaijani military], simply indescribable. And this is why Azerbaijan fails to abide by the humanitarian ceasefire. One of the purposes of the truce is to retrieve the bodies of the victims and to bury them properly. Azerbaijan is afraid of two things. The first is that nearly 10,000 dead bodies have to be recovered against the background of the euphoria created in Azerbaijan. They also have huge losses of military equipment totaling to one and half a billion dollars. Besides, it will reveal the involvement of mercenaries, Turkish soldiers, which the international community has already realized," Pashinyan said, adding that the heroic episodes of the Armenian history should be repeated.
