A 16-year-old dies of Covid-19 in Armenia, 1,836 new cases reported on October 21
Armenia has confirmed 1,836 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in a 24-hour period, bringing the national tally to 68,530 as of 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 21, the Ministry of Health reports. 485 more patients have recovered from the disease with the total number of recoveries now standing at 49,219.
The coronavirus death toll has increased by 23 to 1,121. The latest victims were 73 (male), 52 (male), 81 (male), 72 (female), 62 (female), 81 (female), 67 (female), 75 (female), 77 (female), 49 (female), 60 (female),74 (female), 80 (female), 66 (male), 79 (male), 66 (female), 83 (female), 82 (female), 83 (female), 85 (female) and 16 (female) years old. All had underlying chronic health conditions. Three other patients carrying the virus died from other causes in the past 24 hours.
As the Ministry of Health reports since the outbreak of the coronavirus infection in Armenia, the first death of a child has been recorded. The 16-year-old girl had underlying chronic health condition after a surgery two years ago and has been in vegetative state. It is noted that in spite of all efforts by doctors, the life of the child was not possible to save.
The number of active cases is 17,869. As many as 357,104 tests have been performed in the country since the disease outbreak.
