Mnatsakanyan reaffirms Armenia’s commitment to ceasefire agreements at meeting with Lavrov
Following the phone conversations of Russian President Vladimir Putin with the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the mediation efforts of Russia aimed at ceasing hostilities in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, a meeting was held between Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on Wednesday.
The agenda of the meeting included the issues of the situation on the ground in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone and the implementation of the agreements on the cessation of hostilities, the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.
Highly appreciating direct efforts of Russia and Putin in reaching agreements on cessation of hostilities, Mnatsakanyan stated that the achieved agreements remain on paper due to Azerbaijan’s treacherous stance and the steps aimed at destabilising the situation.
Reaffirming Armenia’s commitment to the agreements on the cessation of hostilities reached in Moscow on October 10 and October 17 through joint statements, Mnatsakanyan underlined the establishment of a sustainable ceasefire maintained through verification mechanisms as a primary goal.
