Aliyev says prospect for a peaceful settlement is very remote
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who has launched a military aggression against Artsakh with the involvement of Syrian mercenaries backed by Turkey, has not ruled out a meeting with Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan. Aliyev's comments came in an interview with Nikkei on Wednesday.
When asked whether he has been invited to Moscow by Russian President Vladimir Putin?, Aliyev has said: "No. But I have been invited many times by President Putin and visited Moscow many times."
As to a possible trilateral summit meeting in Moscow with the Armenian Prime Minister, Aliyev noted: "Of course, it is possible. These kinds of meetings happened before. It depends on what will be the agenda of this kind of meeting," he said, adding however, that 'the prospect for a peaceful settlement is very remote.'
To remind, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Wednesday ruled out a diplomatic solution of the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) conflict at this stage because Azerbaijan does not agree with anything other than the capitulation of Artsakh. “We have to realize that the Karabakh conflict cannot have a diplomatic solution at least at this stage and for a very long time,” Pashinyan said in a Facebook live video.
