Women from Artsakh, who had to temporarily resettle in Armenia because of the Azerbaijani-Turkish military aggression, on Wednesday staged a protest outside the US Embassy in Yerevan, calling on the United States to take efforts to recognize Artsakh’s independence.

"Our sisters, mothers, women of Artsakh have been forces to leave their homes. Some members of our families fighting are on the frontline, others are in Artsakh shelters, where there is no heating, electricity or water supply. The rear is the front for us now. We have gathered outside the US Embassy to voice our demands. We can’t remain silent any longer,” said one of the protesters, Liana Adamyan.

The protesting women demanded that an employee of the embassy come out and take a letter presenting their demands, as well as a meeting with US Ambassador Lynne Tracy.

“We will not remain silent. It is no longer possible to endure the shelling of our settlements with internationally prohibited weapons, while the whole world is silent. The US is silent as a key member of NATO, failing to impose any sanctions or to block Turkey's involvement,” the woman said, adding they will no longer tolerate double standards.

Three Artsakh women were invited to the embassy to hand over the letter and present their demands.

The protesters threatened to hold a sit-in outside the embassy if their calls were ignored.
